Urban Forest Banners Begin to Sprout
As part of the upcoming AIGA conference here, groovy banners will start appearing in early October hanging from light poles along California Street – concentrating on the theme of trees as a metaphor for sustainability. It’s all part of the Urban Forest Project.
For the Denver project, Colorado-based designers partnered with students to create 48 banners that will be displayed on California Street between 14th Street and the 16th Street Mall. Each banner uses the form of the tree, or a metaphor for the tree, to make a powerful visual statement. Together they create a forest of thought-provoking images. Following their display, the banners will be recycled into tote bags and sold at auction, with proceeds going to scholarship and mentoring programs that benefit students of the visual arts.
This one was created by our city’s own, Art & Anthropology.
