LiV's Feist Show Review
Anyone else see Feist at the Fillmore on Tuesday night? Holy wow. Extraordinary. Honestly, I didn’t expect such a powerful show from her, but what a voice & what a performance.
“This is the song that plays in the background when [such-and-such] is happening in the movie of your life,” she’d say. Talk about romancing the crowd. She was plain in appearance, though her vocals filled the room with soul. It was my first time at the venue & I didn’t know what to expect. The mood of the room was mystic & intimate (I’d even use the word exotic), with a handful of gigantic purple-lit chandeliers above us & a nice sway happening in the crowd. What can I say, my senses were fully stimulated. She hit every note pitch-perfectly, choking me up as I watched in awe.
And as if her big, booming, outrageously charming voice wasn’t entertaining enough, the LIVE shadow art (performed by puppeteer Clea Minaker and her assistant, Diane Montgomery) projected onto the span of the wall behind her left nothing to be desired. Inspiring, enchanting, poetic… imagery I’d never seen before, not even close. Hands smearing what appeared to be paint, composing a sailing ship on a stormy sea… big lady leg silhouettes rotating in a subtle, sexy dance… giant diamonds dragging down the wall like raindrops… I wish my words could give a proper depiction of the magic I was seeing. This, I thought to myself, is the future of live music.
My only regret is not bringing my camera, though I may not have been as “in the moment” had I stopped to take pictures. My mental image of that night is still very vivid, especially with “My Moon, My Man” playing in the background as I write this. I have to say, it was by far the best show I’ve seen to date.

I missed the show.. but have been enjoying her music on the ole ipod.. Fe “now I’m famous” ist deserves it all.
You know you’ve made it when you’re on S. Street. But still enjoying Yo Gabba Gabba for kids programming. Love the retro synthpop throughout.
