Wednesday Lunchtime Poll #11
That time is upon us once again; when borders are replaced by lane lines; when politics take a back seat to the stopwatch; and when even the toughest of the tough aren’t afraid to weep openly at the sound of their national anthem.
This week we’re wondering, as the world unites in the spirit of competition:
Are you looking forward to watching the Olympics?

On moment while David Stone consults with the One Show for his answer.

I saw the images of the Opening Ceremonies practice run through. Looks amazing. It is China, they are gonna kill it with the fireworks. Hopefully it will be a low pollution day, which is probably about 10x worse that the worst pollution day in LA.
Overall, the track and field and diving stuff is mildly entertaining. I will not go out of my way to watch much else.

My four year old daughters will force me to watch the diving and gymnastics from start to finish, and I’ll be in interested in the stagecraft and branding that shows up in the venues…

Unless it’s the World Cup or The European Cup, I’m not really bothered. The USA will win everything as usual.

Funny article on the subject.

not so much. I watched when I was a kid growing up, but since then, it’s not held the allure for me. it’s summer, I want to be outside doing stuff, not sitting inside watching tv.

Anything is worth at least 5 minutes if it’s in high def.
In response to above from bottom up:
Doing stuff in 90 plus heat is highly overrated.
There’s nothing funny about the Olympics.
What’s more boring. The Americans winning everything or a soccer match? Wait, I just pulled a pinkie muscle, let me writhe for a moment.
Branding and stagecraft? I can’t wait for women’s beach volleyball.
David Stone? Was he the guy in front of the tank?
— Mudhen · Jul 30, 11:16 PM · #
nah… us coverage is nothing more than what American’s did that day with some other people thrown-in for color… urrr.. or if they beat us..
David is out of town.. btw.

Hells yeah, I’m watching. I’m a big fan of the olympics. Always have been. I guess you could say I’m an Olympiholic. I’m also that for booze.

That’s the whole point of working from home.
Olympics & booze.
